A Background on The Reviewer - My Favourite Music
March 13th 2008 02:03
Hi all,
I'm Matty T, the new writer for this site.
I thought since taking over www.reviewreview.com.au that I'd give you some background on what music and movies I am a fan of, so that you can get some perspective on future reviews. For the length of this post, I'll save the movies until the next time.
I have a penchant for alternative music, including indie rock, alt-country, indie pop, pop rock and various mixtures of the above. I am generally a huge music fan, however, going to many, many festivals and gigs over the past 5-6 years. Thus I have been lucky enough to have seen a number of my favourite bands and some of the biggest artists the world has to offer - Basement Jaxx (Falls Festival 2006), Groove Armada (Falls 2007), Kings of Leon (Falls 2007), The Who (2004), Oasis (2005), Interpol (2004, 2008), The Chemical Brothers (2008), Coldplay (2006), Muse (2007), Tool (2007), The White Stripes (2006), Franz Ferdinand (2006), The Beastie Boys (2005), Rage Against the Machine (2008), Bob Dylan (2007), Crosby Stills & Nash (2007), The Shins (2005, 2007), The Strokes (2006), Iggy & the Stooges (2006), Pearl Jam (2006) and R.E.M. (2005).
I would list amongst my favourite musicians/bands/artists: The Libertines, The Who, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, The National, Kings of Leon, The Beatles, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Ryan Adams, The Smiths, Matt Pond PA, The Thrills, Wolf Parade, Death From Above 1979, Okkervil River, Tilly and the Wall, Big Star, Band of Horses, Spoon, The Hold Steady, The Arcade Fire, The Kinks, The Strokes, Elliott Smith, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Maximo Park, The Kissaway Trail, David Bowie, Interpol, Tapes n Tapes, The Shins and Babyshambles.
My favourite albums would include: Rubber Soul (The Beatles), #1 Record (Big Star), Highway 61 Revisited (Bob Dylan), Bringing It All Back Home (Bob Dylan), Blonde on Blonde (Bob Dylan), The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie), Alligator (The National), Black Sheep Boy (Okkervil River), Exile on Main Street (The Rolling Stones), Easy Tiger (Ryan Adams), Teenager (The Thrills), Live At Leeds (The Who), Apologies to the Queen Mary (Wolf Parade) and Fevers and Mirrors (Bright Eyes).
