A Background on The Reviewer - My Favourite Films

March 13th 2008 08:27
Hi again,

In terms of films, I do like a wide variety of films from across most genres. There is not one sort of film that I generally prefer over other; however, having said that, I am a big fan of particular directors.

Some of my favourite directors and my favourite works of theirs are:
*The Cohen Brothers - The Big Lebowski, Fargo, The Man Who Wasn't There
* Sofia Coppola - Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides
* Wes Anderson - Rushmore, The Life Aquatic
* Christopher Nolan - Batman Begins, The Prestige
* PT Anderson - There Will Be Blood

* Steven Spielberg - Indiana Jones Trilogy, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Hook

Other favourites include:
Bad Santa, Groundhog Day, High Fidelity, The Odd Couple, I'm Not There, This Is England, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Squid and the Whale, Good Will Hunting, American Psycho, The Princess Bride, Jingle All the Way, V For Vendetta, Garden State, The Chumscrubber, Almost Famous, Kindergarten Cop and the Wizard of Oz.

I've recently seen: There Will Be Blood, and Run Fat Boy Run
Currently Watching: Bottle Rocket

Hopefully now this gives you some indication into what I like and don't like with film reviews, memorable movie quotes, movie lists and so forth coming your way soon.

Some fine choices there Matt,

A lot of those films you listed I have reviewed on my site.

I look forward to reading your film reviews.

Great to see some love for the original Odd Couple, possibly my favourite comedy of all time.

I haven't seen There Will Be Blood, but I'm a little undecided on it...

Good list! Made me remember all the great films I loved... and a few I still have to see.

I notice you don't give props to Sofai Coppola's Marie Antoinette - are you not a fan of it? I always thought it's received a bit of a bad rap because of its lack of concern fro complete accuracy when that was never her intention.

Thanks guys so far for your comments; for the record I am yet to see but very keen to see amongst my favourite directors:

* Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antionette"
* Wes Anderson's "The Darjeeling Limited"
* The Cohen Brothers "No Country for Old Men", "Raising Arizona" and "Miller's Crossing"
* PT Anderson's "Magnolia" (I've seen only half)
